“During our child’s second-grade year we noticed mounting struggles with reading. His high levels of comprehension helped him compensate — and actually helped mask the problem from his teachers — but he grew frustrated as he consistently lagged behind his classmates on reading assignments. The problem became glaring as he started to struggle in other subjects that required reading, such as with word problems in math, normally his strongest subject. Juli soon identified our son’s deficit in processing sounds. Lots of hard work and our son continues to yield dramatic improvements in his reading fluency and other literacy skills.
